JOHN REPLOGLE is a leader in the conscious consumer and mission-driven brand movement, with extensive experience leading fast growth, high performing businesses including Seventh Generation and Burt’s Bees. John believes that business is one of the most powerful forces on earth and that power must be harnessed for the greater good. He also served as GM of Unilever’s Skin Care business and President of the Guinness Bass Import Company. John started his career at the Boston Consulting Group and holds degrees from Harvard Business School and Dartmouth College. He serves on the Boards of Dartmouth, Zarbees, Leesa, Cree, Beautycounter and BEST NC. His focus is on growth strategies, organizational and cultural design, mission and values and CEO coaching.
DOUG HAENSEL is a finance executive with deep CFO experience in private equity-backed companies. His industry experience includes consumer goods, retail, and media. Prior to joining One Better Ventures, Doug was Chief Financial Officer of Burt's Bees, a leading natural personal care company. Doug had previously served as President and COO of 21st Century Newspapers, Inc., as well as CFO of The Athlete's Foot and The Butler Group. Doug started his career with GE where he spent most of his 9 years underwriting and managing investments for GE Capital. Doug also is an active investor in early stage companies.
JIM GEIKIE has deep experience in sales, marketing and management of high growth businesses combined with a passion for mission-driven, challenger brands. His experience includes start-up, growth-stage and major multi-national businesses. Jim spent 18 years at Unilever before joining Burt’s Bees where he led retail strategy, brand marketing, business development, and international prior to serving as General Manager. He led CREE’s entry into the consumer lighting market and led the commercial strategy at start-up skin care device maker, La Lumiere. As a partner in One Better Ventures, he focuses on branding, marketing, culture and organization, and channel strategy.
PETER GRAHAM is former Chairman of Seventh Generation for 17 years until it was sold to Unilever in 2016. Peter was the Lead Independent Director of Alloy, Inc., a NASDAQ listed media and marketing programs and education provider to children which was sold in 2010 to a major media private equity investor. Peter has deep experience within the investment banking industry, and extensive knowledge of finance and capital markets. Peter held various senior positions with Ladenburg Thalmann Group, and served as head of the Investment Banking Department where he led close to 50 public offerings, completed numerous corporate restructurings, and served on a dozen public company Boards.
PETE ALBERSE is a leader with a love of mission-based companies and experience across functions, industries, consumer needs, and business channels. Pete’s experience focuses on general management, leadership, & sales strategy. Pete led Seventh Generation’s business development and Ventures efforts. He specialized in driving deeper partnerships with retailers, building capabilities such as joint business planning and shopper marketing, and developing global distribution. As SVP of Customer Development at Burt’s Bees, Pete executed the retail expansion strategy – expanding with major global retail partners while enhancing brand equity. He also led teams at L’Oréal and Unilever.
JOE BOWMAN is experienced in corporate finance, investing and business strategy. At One Better Ventures, Joe works with entrepreneurs to build innovative and mission-driven businesses. Prior to One Better Ventures, Joe was the finance lead for Seventh Generation’s personal care division and Ventures initiative. Previously, Joe was a Senior Accountant at The Carlyle Group, where he was responsible for partnership accounting, financial reporting and investor relations for the firm’s flagship U.S. Buyout fund. Joe began his career in public accounting and holds his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina.
NANA MYHAND is the Chief of Staff at One Better Ventures with many years of successful experience in business support. With understanding in what really needs to happen behind the scenes to make a business run smoothly, Nana is ready to take on whatever comes her way. Her dedication to customer success has led her to many opportunities to participate in a myriad of projects supporting C-level executives and other high-profile individuals. Prior to One Better Ventures, Nana has worked with companies such as Burt’s Bees, Ingram Industries and Ambassador University.
